New GPS Add-on for Pentax DSLRs

Pentax released new information for the O-GPS1 module today that’s sure to make K-5, K-r, and 645D owners quite happy. The new hot-shoe mounted GPS unit records latitude, longitude, altitude, and even shooting angle. The built in “Astrotracer” function can even determine stars movements and use the PENTAX Shake Reduction System for better celestial images. The Pentax O-GPS1 will ship in July and is currently available for pre-order at the asking price of $249.99. Please note that the O-GPS1 is only compatible with Pentax DSLR’s that are currently updated to the newest firmware.

Swedish Chameleon Unveils New SC3 HDSLR Rig

Swedish Chameleon has designed a new HDSLR/handheld camcorder rig aiming to break away from the mold of the current offerings on the market today. This new set-up involves a rod connected directly from the back shoulder plate to a belt that must be worn around the operator’s waist. According to Swedish Chameleon, the new arrangement will drastically improve stability while also giving your hands much more freedom to use their follow and zoom focus wheel.

In a recent interview, EOS Network took time to interview Mattias Holmer from Swedish Chameleon who gave a hands on first-look at the ambitious new rig.

Canon 1D Mark IV Firmware Update 1.1.0

In some quick news, 1D Mark IV users can now download the newest firmware update from Canon. Version 1.1.0 is reported to “Improve writing/reading speeds when using UDMA 7-compatible CF cards” and “Fix a phenomenon where the ability to shoot movies may be stopped.”
