The Fuji X-Pro1 and XF Lenses Now Available for Pre-order – Prices Officially Revealed

For the first time, we now have a definitive price-point for Fuji X-Pro1, as Amazon and Adorama have jumped the gun and officially listed the highly-anticipated mirrorless interchangeable lens camera for pre-order.

Although no definitive ship date has been set, the Fuji X-Pro1 will hit the market for $1699.95 body-only, remaining consistent with the initial reports that hovered around that very same price.

Fuji: 100,000 X100′s Sold as of December 31st, 2011

Although Fuji’s overall company outlook has been adjusted, resulting in lower operating and net profit expectations going forward, the company’s digital camera front continues to remain its area of strength, thanks in part to the success of 2011′s premiere X-series point and shoot releases.

Canon’s President to Step Down Amid Poor Q4 2011 Earnings Report

Tsuneji Uchida, President of Canon Inc.

In lieu of Canon’s less-than-spectacular fourth quarter 2011 earnings report, and due to the company’s weak 2012 growth outlook, current acting President and Chief Operating Officer Tsuneji Uchida will reportedly step down from each post effective March 29th, relieving his duties to 76-year-old chairman and CEO Fujio Mitarai.

Mattebox: The Konica Hexar Inspired iPhone Camera App

Even though Mattebox, a very well designed iPhone camera app developed by photographer Ben Syverson, has been out for a few months now, it has just come to my attention thanks to the good folks at PetaPixel and is now hopefully on your radar, as well.

Syverson, as shown in the overview video below, drew upon inspiration from the cult-favorite Konica Hexar 35mm point and shoot of the 90′s and tried to create an app that gave you “more control, with fewer controls,” an area in which Mattebox delivers in with it’s one-touch white balance control, and intuitive exposure, saturation, contrast, and vignette sliders.

The Third Olympus OM-D Image Leak: An Almost Complete Look at the Final Camera’s Face

What you see above is a collage containing the three current image leaks we’ve seen so far of the soon-to-be-announced Olympus OM-D, due to make a proper unveiling on February 8th.

The leaks have all come from one anonymous source, releasing one partial image after another for the past week and a half. From what can be deciphered from the initial leaked batch, the camera bares a very OM-4-esque built-in viewfinder and, for the first time, the real name badge is visible above the mode dial (top right). It appears that early reports have validity as “OM-D” will most likely be the name of Olympus’s new micro four-third’s camera line and “..-3,” or “E-..” will be the retro-enthused camera’s name.

Over the past decade, darkrooms have gone from commonplace to few and far between. We saw the final roll of Kodachrome film be processed and Kodak’s constant struggle remain afloat amid the overwhelming pressures of the digital age.
