Evident from the video shown below of an interview with TIME Magazine and photographer Platon Antoniou, the southeast Asian country of Burma isn’t exactly a shining example of media hospitality.
Almost all foreign journalists and photographers are barred from working in the country, a tightly controlled, military-ruled state. When Platon and his team traveled to Burma in hopes of taking a portrait of Burmese opposition politician and National League for Democracy Secretary, Aung San Suu Kyi, they had to go incognito to prevent themselves from possibly being following by Burmese intelligence, which usually monitors the moves of the foreign press and national press, anyway. Luckily for Platon, he was able to accomplish what he sent out to do, capture the beautiful portrait of Aung San Suu Kyi displayed above.
