If you want to stay with some Nikon gear go for a Nikon SB-700 flash gun. But their not cheap.
Otherwise got for a Metz flash gun. Great quality for a good price. And a bite cheaper then Nikon.

There was that fully-manual Strobist-community-inspired SB-800 clone... I'm not sure of the name of it though. But apparently it was perfect for learning flash and/or using a lot of flashes, strobist-style. And should be cheap, I think.

You could always consider the sb-400, which is a smaller, cheaper flash. And could get you started with a flash.
What do you need a flash for? I personally never use one, so dont find a need. But what do you intend to use it for?
