As the D600 Rumblings Continue, Nikon May be Looking to Aptina Imaging for its Full-Frame Entry-Level Sensor

Ever since Nikon Rumors first got the proverbial ball rolling on the Nikon D600 talk, more and more information has been emerging, adding a dash of presumed credibly to the rumor with each passing update. Yesterday, we were greeted with more Nikon entry-level full-frame talk, this time from Italian website marsicalive.it, revealing the possibility that Aptina Imaging, not Sony, will be in charge of designing Nikon’s next full-frame CMOS sensor.

Detailed in marsicalive’s article, which can be viewed HERE, Aptina confirms the development of a new full-frame CMOS sensor. This sensor was also highlighted in the write-up as being produced specifically for Nikon, “according to some unconfirmed rumors.

Although Aptina has actually been linked to prior Nikon sensors, à la the mirrorless V1, this will be the firms first dip into the full-frame world, and possibly an important piece Nikon’s future rumored release.
