Canon Seeking Full Camera Production Automation – Entirely Robot Made Cameras Coming by 2015

Share

Quick News – Canon has just revealed plans to transfer the firms entire camera production outfit from human hands, to completely robot-made offerings by 2015, all in an effort to cut costs and contend with the after effects of the soaring yen.

The interesting announcement came yesterday when Jun Misumi, a company spokesman, revealed the lofty goals to the Associated Press, adamantly denying that the change would lead to job cuts in any way, stating:

If successful, counting on machines can help preserve this nation’s technological power — not the stereotype of machines snatching assembly line jobs from workers.

Misumi Continued:

When machines become more sophisticated, human beings can be transferred to do new kinds of work…

If Canon’s future digital camera production plans follow the set course, that distant cry of a 5D Mark IV could, in fact, be entirely machine-made.
