Egami, the Japanese blog that is always dishing out the latest revelations in camera technology and lens patents, might have just spoiled Canon’s plans of secrecy regarding their illusive mirrorless interchangeable lens camera – a model that everyone has been eagerly anticipating, being that Canon has yet to join the competition and release one of their own.
The patent, filed on July 24th of last year, but released publicly earlier this month, calls for what many are believing will be the kit lens for Canon’s mirrorless offering. According to the information reported from Egami, the 18-45mm f/3.5-5.6 lens in question is for a mirrorless camera with an ASP-C sized sensor, equivalent to a 29mm-70mm when the 1.6x crop-factor is equated.
A digital version of the Canon’s revered Canonet anyone?
