Hand Crafted to Perfection: A Look at the Production of Leica Lenses

Without question, the Leica stamp that’s machine etched into every high-priced, but incredibly well-preforming optic, from the Summilux 50mm 1.4 asph to the Noctilux‑M 50mm f/0.95, has become synonymous with lens perfection and the object of desire for any photo enthusiast that can appreciate quality.

In that pursuit of perfection and the aforementioned quality we’ve come to expect, Leica entrusts the precision hands of highly-trained technicians to meticulously craft, not only each of the 100+ parts that make up a single lens, but painstakingly assemble them without relying on a machine oriented assembly line, like other optics manufacturers currently utilize.
