Quick News – Although the prime piece of retail space on 977 F Street, in NW Washington, D.C. has been shrouded by Leica logos for quite sometime during the construction happening behind closed doors, the German camera manufacturer felt as though today would be the most opportune time to officially announce the opening of their first walk-in retail outlet stateside.

On May 2nd and 3rd, Leica will be opening the doors to, what the company calls, “a unique lifestyle destination,” complete with a full range of camera bodies, lenses, accessories, gear, and even an exhibition gallery of images taken by Leica’s, as well as dedicated areas for their Akademie education workshops.

Leica also confirmed two additional U.S. retail shops planned for a 2012 launch, one of which is hitting the New York City neighborhood of Soho, (one of my personal favorite areas for street photography), and another in Miami.

In case you missed it, Leica is also rumored to be unveiling the Leica M10 on May 10th, all known details regarding the expected M9 successor can be found HERE.
