In a rather bizarre development, Olympus found it fitting to get the ball rolling on their latest product hype campaign by sending a mysterious package to select news sources, the contents of which contained two nuts, enclosed in a bag, and labeled with a “coming soon” distinction.
Techradar, the recipients of the package above, were admittedly perplexed by the mail-room discovery, but proceeded to do what anyone would with what was presented in front of them – crack the nuts! Unfortunately, no further clues were yielded as a result…
As for what could possibly be in Olympus’s pipeline, it has been mentioned on many occasions that the PEN series is expecting a Sony NEX-7-esque update, bringing a reported electric viewfinder to the series for the first time, adding an additional complement to the new-released OM-D EM-5.
The significance of the pair of nuts could also be linked to the pair of new high-quality optics set to be released in the camera makers foreseeable future. While we have already seen the upcoming and much-anticipated 60mm f/2.8 macro and a 75mm f/1.8 lens, maybe today’s puzzling revelation has something to do them
Whatever the case may be, expect to hear more information as the week’s progress.
