Canon’s leap into the 40+ megapixel DSLR territory has been rumored for quite some time, even appearing on B&H’s product search page earlier in the week, rekindling the notion of its existence and foreseeable announcement.
While, up until now, the general consensus believed this mysterious DSLR would be named the 3D, new reports from Canon Rumors and Canon Watch paint an entirely new picture, claiming Canon’s next DSLR will be the 46.1 MP “EOS-1S.”
According to this latest report, the EOS-1S would share the same outer shell of the EOS-1D C and EOS-1D X DSLRs, and be priced in the latter’s vicinity – possibly around the $9,000 mark. While nothing has changed from the specifications sets we’ve been seeing for months, which can be viewed below, Canon Rumors is stating that “a new [ISO] technology will be introduced in this camera,” offering incredible low light capabilities which will “…set the stage for sensor development over the next 2-3 years.”
The latest feature sets are as follows:
- 46.1mp Full Frame
- 5 FPS
- ISO 100-12800
- 16bit
- Priced around $9,000
