After experiencing a brief break in the Canon 7D Mark II talk during the course of the summer months, the 7D’s successor rumors are back courtesy of our friend Keith Cooper from Northlight Images, the historically trustworthy source of credible Canon rumor talk.
According to Cooper’s sources, the 7D2 will remain an APS-C sized offering, packing an increased megapixel count over the 18 of its predecessor, but will not exceed “25MP.” Aside from the general technological increases and inclusion of features found in the current camera’s latest firmware, Cooper notes continuous burst rates will reach the 10fps mark, remaining a viable option for Canon sport shooters.
Furthermore, if this latest report is reliable, we can expect to see a formal announcement in and around the time of CES 2013, held in January.
