Earlier in the week, we posted the latest updates regarding the 5D Mark III (or 5D X) which stated that an announcement was just around the corner, expected within a seven day period toward the end of this month. Well, today, thanks to Canon Rumors, we might have our first definitive date in which the long awaited 5D2′s successor shows its true face.

According to CR, February 27th or 28th, depending on where you live, is when a 5D replacement will be unveiled to the world, bringing with it the following known features: a 22mp sensor, 61 point AF (41 cross), 3.2″ LCD, dual CF/SD card slots, and 100% viewfinder coverage. Furthermore, the next 5D is expected to carry a price of around $3,500 upon arrival. The exact name, however, has yet to be uncovered.

Canon Rumors has gone as far as to denote the information listed above as trusted fact, giving it their “CR3″ classification for validity.

It was also mentioned from a “known source” that the next model in the rebel series might possibly be announced on March 2nd. Although this report doesn’t hold the same weight in credibility as the aforementioned 5D announcement, it has been rumored for quite some time that a T4i was expected around this time. At this moment, no concrete specs are available other than a new EF-S 18-135 kit lens with a silent AF motor will be announced along side the next rebel. The latest rumored specs paint the T4i with a 24MP sensor paired with the DIGIC 5 processor and the general boost in ISO performance, video capabilities, and functionality upgrades. However, the latter bit of information should be taken with a grain of salt.

Be sure to stay tuned as more information will undoubtedly emerge in the coming days…
