Following up yesterday’s report of a presumable Canon T4i (650D) announcement coming next month, comes another batch of speculative specifications that we may see in the next Rebel. While we’ve already seen a slew of feature-sets tossed around from time to time, especially in the recent months, Canon Rumors is classifying the following as very close to being factual, originating from credible reports from trusted sources.
Canon Mirrorless Concept By David Riesenberg
Month after month, the seemingly ever-present hints of a T4i and Mirrorless ILC announcement from Canon never seem to simmer, as the roller-coaster ride of between what “might be,” “could be,” or “may presumably be” unveiled shows no signs of slowing down. Whatever the case may be, the loose word from the rumors-mill has yet to materialize into anything as of yet, begging the question as to when Canon will indeed unveil the two aforementioned offerings.
During the time the 5D Mark III enjoyed its time in the limelight, experiencing image leak after specification outing, the Canon T4i was also receiving a lot of buzz from the rumor-mills, shaping up to quietly be announced alongside its bigger brother. However, as the multiple rumored announcement dates passed, it was clear we were going to have to wait a bit longer for a 600D successor, a wait that might finally be coming to a close fairly shortly.
Unfortunately, those of us who were eagerly expecting the 5D Mark II’s successor to officially be unveiled within the next few days may have to wait a bit longer, as Canon Rumors has received updated information regarding the next 5D’s official announcement date, now expected to touch down on March 2nd, 2012.
Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8L II
Relatively speaking, if there has been one lens with an anticipation level comparable to that of full fledged camera announcements, it’s been the long-awaited version II of Canon’s 24-70 f/2.8L.
Today, we finally got our first look at the lens itself (above) and the few small details shown below, courtesy of CR:
Now that the initial dust has settled on the frenzy of the day that was, lots of opinions have been surfacing on to what the mystery Canon DSLR shown above actually is. At this point, there seems to be more contradictions than apparent answers, with the 7D inspired button layout, but large 5D-esque looking prism indicating a possible full-frame sensor and no built-in flash.
Quick News – Each and every month, there never seems to be a shortage of loose 5D2 successor talk finding their way out of the rumor-mills. Because the reports vary so much with each release, at the very least, a pinch of, if not an entire handful of salt should be taken when reading any new 5D Mark III updates – including the following…
The infamous EOS 3D has been a staple of the Canon camera rumor mill for nearly the last decade, with first reports of a possible release dating back to 2004. Yes… 2004! But of course, that hasn’t stopped the year to year speculation from giving us hope in the belief the 3D actually exists.
Quick News – CanonRumors is reporting with “high probability from a trusted source” that the long-awaited Canon 5D Mark III announcement and unveiling may come “around the end of March or early April 2012,” leaving the door wide-open for some hands-on time at NAB 2012.
