Various sources are reporting Canon’s intent to announce a an “ultra-small” DSLR, breaking ground on a new category of cameras for the firm and possibly fulfilling on the notion Canon themselves had hinted at a few years ago.
Quick News - Photo Rumors, as well as many other credible sources, are reporting that Canon is set to hold a product announcement/press event on March 22nd 2013 – an occasion that’s rumored to unveil the long-rumored successor to the EOS 60D – the 70D.
Both Northlight Images and Canon Rumors, arguably the top two resources for what’s what in the world of Canon’s release forecasts, have each received similar word from known sources reiterating a long-standing rumor that points to the camera maker’s presumable plans to release a high-megapixel DSLR – a shooter that would reportedly share the same exterior characteristics as the EOS-1D X/1D C.
After Canon categorically denied the 7D Mark II’s suspected appearance at this year’s CP+ imaging show to be held later on this week in Japan, a top source close to Canon Rumors has hinted at when we might indeed see the 7D’s successor along with some of the camera maker’s suggested plans for 2013.

Well, it’s not exactly a momentous stretch of the imagination to believe that Canon would introduce an electronic viewfinder-ed version of their first mirrorless interchangeable lens offering – the EOS-M. In fact, it was quite the head-scratching moment when the EOM-M was first announced without an EVF-option, leaving something to be desired and anxiously anticipated.
After experiencing a collective Canon 7D Mark II rumor-mill dry-spell over the course of the summer and fall months, we can now get that proverbial “loose talk” ball rolling again as Canon Rumors has posted the latest round of speculative 7D2 specifications, courtesy of an unnamed source.
Canon’s leap into the 40+ megapixel DSLR territory has been rumored for quite some time, even appearing on B&H’s product search page earlier in the week, rekindling the notion of its existence and foreseeable announcement.
While, up until now, the general consensus believed this mysterious DSLR would be named the 3D, new reports from Canon Rumors and Canon Watch paint an entirely new picture, claiming Canon’s next DSLR will be the 46.1 MP “EOS-1S.”
While the entry-level full-frame talk has run a bit dry on the Nikon front, Canon has taken the rumor-mill baton and picked up where the D600 murmurings has left off with the latest word coming from our friends at Canon Rumors, revealing the first possible specifications for the yet-to-be-named addition to the EOS line.
