Both Northlight Images and Canon Rumors, arguably the top two resources for what’s what in the world of Canon’s release forecasts, have each received similar word from known sources reiterating a long-standing rumor that points to the camera maker’s presumable plans to release a high-megapixel DSLR – a shooter that would reportedly share the same exterior characteristics as the EOS-1D X/1D C.
After Canon categorically denied the 7D Mark II’s suspected appearance at this year’s CP+ imaging show to be held later on this week in Japan, a top source close to Canon Rumors has hinted at when we might indeed see the 7D’s successor along with some of the camera maker’s suggested plans for 2013.

While, up until now, the general consensus believed this mysterious DSLR would be named the 3D, new reports from Canon Rumors and Canon Watch paint an entirely new picture, claiming Canon’s next DSLR will be the 46.1 MP “EOS-1S.”
While the entry-level full-frame talk has run a bit dry on the Nikon front, Canon has taken the rumor-mill baton and picked up where the D600 murmurings has left off with the latest word coming from our friends at Canon Rumors, revealing the first possible specifications for the yet-to-be-named addition to the EOS line.
