Light Painting + Bullet-Time = A Fantastically Immersive Visual Test

It only takes a few minutes of roaming around the interwebs to encounter some fantastic displays of creativity incorporating the use of light painting or Matrix-esque bullet-time wizardry to produce unique, and more often than not, compelling visual imagery.

With that being said, however, it’s rare to see both techniques used simultaneously – a visual feat Richard Kendall was able to accomplish in the video above. Kendall lined-up 96 cameras, each containing 30 second sequential exposures and, as he calls it, “a lot of running around with lights.” The results are nothing less than stunning, take a look.

Hiding in the City: Liu Bolin’s Incredible Series of Images That Reinforce His “Invisible Man” Moniker

In early February, as many of you may recall, we covered a story on Chinese photographer and visual creative, Liu Xia. For those of you who might have missed the post, Liu Xia’s photographs were recently on view at Columbia University in New York. Her images depicted “ugly dolls” that were representations of her fellow Chinese citizens, victims of the injustices that stemmed from China’s political ideologies.

As we’ve experienced from learning and reading about Liu Xia, China’s political ups and downs have put their citizens in frustrating positions, many of them fearful of expressing themselves verbally and forced to rely on other measures of expression. Like Liu Xia, fellow Beijing-based artist Liu Bolin uses photography to explore the national Chinese personality in an effort to protest his nation’s government.

Allan I. Teger’s Bodyscapes: A Creative Take on the Female Nude

A few things initially come to mind when you first take a long look at one of the Beijing-based artist Li Wei’s gravity defying, borderline-unbelievable photographs. Thoughts such as “that can’t be real” or “how is that possible?” tend to matriculate down to the a question I feel everyone must have asked themselves after spending a few moments dissecting one of Wei’s images: “It must be Photoshopped.” And to tell you the truth, the images you see below are Photoshopped, just not in the way you think.
