In a rather unexpected turn of events, Canon has just let the cat out of the bag, announcing plans to finally introduce the 5D Mark III’s ability to output a fully uncompressed 1080p signal via HDMI – something Nikon’s and Sony’s HDSLR counterparts have been touting for some time.
Quick News – Engadget is reporting word directly from a Lytro launch event in Hong Kong that the light-field camera maker is planning to add even more functionality to its ‘shoot now, focus later’ offering, going a step further than the addition of manual controls announced last week, displaying a parallax-based 3D effect, teased in the video below.

Fuji has just released the first firmware update for their flagship mirrorless offering the X-Pro1, aiming for version 1.01 to correct the rather annoying occurrence now dubbed “chattering” – a noise that can be heard when the aperture blades automatically adjust to light when the camera is moved, an occurrence audible in the video below:
Quick News - After experiencing an initial delay, postponing the highly-anticipated second firmware update for the NEX-FS100 for about a month, the upgrade has now been officially released and is currently available to download on Sony’s website.
Here’s what the new firmware brings to the table:
Aside from the upcoming Sony FS100 upgrade, no other firmware update has been as eagerly anticipated as this version 1.05 for the Alpha A77 and A65 SLTs, as Sony intends to rectify the issues that have been plaguing owners since each camera’s respective launches.
For starters, intelligent vignette correction and lateral chromatic aberration/distortion control has now been supported on the new batch of lenses listed below, bringing the total to 11 A-mount pieces of glass that now support the feature:
Quick News – The much anticipated Sony FS100 firmware update/upgrade that was supposed to make landfall yesterday, Thursday, March 22nd, has now been delayed until April 19th without much rhyme or reason given by Sony themselves as to why the postponement occurred. However, at the moment, no changes have been made to the expected feature set updates, all of which remain the same.
