Every now and again, one of the uber-rare Nikkor 6mm f/2.8 fisheyes make an appearance and set the inter-webs abuzz due to its extreme rarity, unique characteristics and oh yeah, that bank account breaking estimated price-tag of $160,000.00.

The latest case of its resurgence came just weeks ago, when Amateur Photographer was the first to report the legendary lenses’ availability for purchase at Grays of Westminster, a renowned UK retailer who houses goods solely catered to the Nikon shooter.

Nikon Issues a Service Notice – Certain EN-EL15 Li-ion Batteries Being Recalled Due to “Overheating”

Today, Nikon released an official service notice regarding their EN-EL15 Lithium-Ion Batteries, issuing a recall on a certain number of units which are used in the D7000, D800, D800E, and Nikon 1 V1 cameras.

While it seems as so those users have yet to experience an issue, Nikon is claiming a small number of EN-EL15 batteries are subject to overheating, so much so in fact that the exterior casing may “become deformed” as a result of the heat.

Every once in a blue moon, one of the only few hundred in existence and incredibly expensive Nikkor 6mm f/2.8′s come out of the woodworks and makes an appearance, hoping to capitalize on its reported rarity and cash-in as a result. The latest sighting of Nikon’s legendary fisheye comes from London, where Amateur Photographer (AP) was informed by Gray Levett, co-founder of  Grays of Westminster, that he spotted the immense piece of glass “around seven weeks ago” on an overseas trip.

His humble approach to doing exactly what the name of his informative website implies, learning DSLR video, is refreshing and resourceful. Case in point, Dave’s latest do-it-yourself project in which he drew upon inspiration from Knoptop’s original viewfinder creation (viewed here) and made a few revisions to a simple formula, resulting in an extremely useful, yet cost effective, tool for the frugal filmmaker.
