Earlier this month we reported word of an expected price hike set to take hold in the U.S. market for both Sony E and A mount lenses on April 1st of this year. Although unconfirmed, it was initially perceived that this change would be limited to just U.S. retailers. However, SonyAlphaRumors has just added another revelation to the unfortunate PhotoRumors report by revealing additional information from a “trusted source,” stating that the hike will now be “worldwide.”
Baring the noted distinction of “previous model” on Sony’s official UK website alongside the previously discontinued Alpha A33 and A55, the A35 is the latest Sony SLT model to be put to rest, leaving the newly released Alpha A65 and A77 as the only translucent mirror cameras listed.
SonyAlphaRumors has been compiling information from their “trusted” sources and has marked a date to pay close attention to for the possible announcement of the A55′s successor.
After being teased for many months, Sony has finally and officially announced the release of their longest fixed focal length G-series lens, the A-mount, super telephoto, 500mm f/4 (SAL500F40G). Here are some of the highlights straight from Sony:
One of the more talked about and lust-over faint dreams of a camera is a full-frame version of the NEX-7, meshing all the qualities that make Sony’s most sought-after prosumer camera in recent memory even more appealing with the benefits of a large sensor. Well, it looks like we might get that, and then some in 2012.
Our friends at SonyAlphaRumors have received another interesting bit of news from one of their top sources concerning a trio of new lenses to be debuted with the rumored, full-frame A9X. Not only could we see the likes of the 500mm f/4 G (shown above) and the highly anticipated Zeiss 50mm f/1.4, but also a new high-end zoom lens, possibly the 70-200mm f/2.8 G SSM?
SonyAlphaRumors has been putting together the pieces to Sony’s 2012 camera puzzle and believes, from trusted sources, that three full-frame offerings are set to be unveiled in the coming year.
The first two SLTs will carry the rumored A9X title, possibly the A99, and according to SAR, will come in two varieties: a 24MP and 34MP version with the latter containing a built-in vertical grip. The third camera is neither pure NEX nor SLT but rather a possible “hybrid-mount” and something completely new from Sony, or anyone else for that matter.
The recent Sony Alpha DSLR (SLT) refreshes have, without a doubt, cemented Sony’s mark in the “prosumer” DSLR market with improvements found in almost every category over their predecessors. The Alpha A77 and A65 pack a tremendous amount of features under the hood, but what about their design?
Earlier in the week, you may recall we posted a rumor that Sony may indeed be following in Nikon’s footsteps and could be prepping a 36 megapixel, full-frame camera of their own. It seems as though Paul Genge of Sony UK caught wind of the speculation and posted this insightful message on Facebook:
It never ceases to amaze me how the rumor mill accelerates from one model to the next, to the next and so on. Stock of the a77 has not reached most markets yet, but people are guessing “what next” I almost felt like posting only “lol”. However, in actual fact its probably better to state that the a77 is now in the range for a while, and the next high end introduction will be featuring the number ’9x’ naming… now watch what happens to the rumor mill!
