Philip Bloom is sure making the most of his time with the pre-production Canon EOS C300 he has been sent to check out. We’ve already seen his video review and test footage from the camera and now we have part one of a quick camera shootout to munch-on between the Sony F3, Sony FS100, Sony NEX-5N, Panasonic AF101, Canon 7D, Nikon D7000, Panasonic GH2, and, of course, the Canon EOS C300.

Sony: The NEX-7 to Arrive in January
It’s no secret that the Thailand floods have done than slow the tremendous momentum Sony’s prosumer camera division has made during the 2011 calender year, it has also halted the production of the NEX-5N and NEX-C3, as well as, delaying the highly-anticipated releases of the NEX-7 and Alpha A65. It wasn’t until recently that Sony confirmed that production had resumed in the region, setting the stage for today’s news of the expected time-frame in which we may see the NEX-7 hit the retail market.
Autumn – Getting Cinematic with the Sony NEX-5N: Quick Workflow Overview
I’ve been getting a ton of emails regarding the recent video you see above from readers wanting to know the workflow steps I used for getting a cinematic look with the Sony NEX-5N. While I’ve been more than happy to respond to each, and every email, I thought it would be a better idea to just answer all of the frequently asked questions in one post, overviewing the basic workflow used for Autumn – Getting Cinematic with the Sony NEX-5N
Getting Cinematic with the Sony NEX-5N: The Digital Visual Style
A lot has been made of the video capabilities of the Sony NEX-5N and rightfully so. Never before have we seen a compact interchangeable lens camera pack so much video prowess, touting Full-HD integration up to 1080/60p, a first for camera at that price-point.
Through some minor setting tweaks, the pint-sized powerhouse from Sony can produce some rather cinematic images. As I stated before, I recommend heading over to EOSHD.com, where Andrew Reid detailed the a how-to guide for NEX-5N video optimization. The cinematic look in question was first achieved by Marlon Torres and his early NEX-5N video: “Pacifica.” Although not Panasonic GH2 quality, the images rendered were quite pleasant and reinforced the notion that Sony produced quite the capable little video camera.
Sony Wants to Lubricate Your Clicking NEX-5N
Quick News – It finally seems Sony has found the culprit to that nasty “clicking” problem plaguing the Sony NEX-5N that occurs when recording 1080p video at 60fps. The noise is the result of a mechanical part of the new shutter that moves during quick and sudden movements. It was thought that a firmware update would be able to alleviate the issue, but Sony will have to physically lubricate the area, albeit free of charge.
If you have fell victim to the mysterious “click,” be sure to contact Sony customer service at 888-868-7392 to arrange for this improvement.

If you happen to be one of the many Sony NEX-5N owners who have experienced the infamous “Click,” help is on the way! As we reported earlier in the week, video testing confirmed a strange clicking sound when the camera is recording its highly touted 1080/60fps video mode. Although the problem is slightly alleviated with the use of an external mic, the audio recordings are pretty much deemed unusable due to the distracting internal noise. Sony has taken note of the issue and released this press statement via their eSupport website: Read More…

These cameras pack tremendous sensors and processing technology, elevating the standards of what “affordable” prosumer digital camera can produce in terms of video quality.
