You’ve heard of wooden accents in the interiors of the latest luxury cars, but on a DSLR?
Sigma is pimping out their already pricey, high-end DSLR with a removable, hand-made wooden housing. Sigma states: “Over 60 hours of milling, sawing, grinding and polishing are needed to allow one of the finest and rarest woods of the world blend with the SD1,” and you thought we were joking when we said “hand-made.”
Only ten Sigma SD1 Wood Edition models will be made, giving a new meaning to the title “special-edition.” The wood veneer used comes from an exotic, southeast asian tree named the Amboyna Burl. This rare specimen is known for twisted nature, prevalent in the visible burls that are produced and is one of the world’s most sought after types. Ok, enough with the history lesson, how much does this thing cost?
The Sigma SD1 Wood Edition will set you back a pretty penny. The ten special edition models will be priced at: €9,999 or $13,800 respectively. If your bank account can withstand the hefty price-tag, contact Sigma Deutschland directly for purchase details.
