Although Fuji themselves revealed their own Leica M-mount lens adapter for the X-Pro 1 back at the 2012 CES show held this past January in Las Vegas, it was only a matter of time before third party manufacturers announced their own, and for all intents and purposes, cheaper version for Fuji’s new mirrorless offering.
First up, Kipon – a Chinese company which just unveiled not only the Leica M-mount adapter shown above, but also adapters for Nikon and Contax G lenses.
Photo Rumors also spotted a few sample images taken with the X-Pro 1 equipped with the beautiful Leica 28mm f/2.8 Elmarit-M, attached by Kipon’s adapter on the DCHome forums. The thread also contained some additional images of a few other lenses attached to the X-Pro 1, which can be viewed HERE.
Although no price-points were given, Kipon plans to make these available by months end. Expect these, and most third party offerings, to be on the cheaper side to Fuji’s official Leica-M adapter, which is scheduled to be released “sometime in 2012.”
